About Organic Farm Kanazawa Daichi
Aiming for "1000-year sustainable industry," Kanazawa Daichi runs organic farms where we practice organic farming in consideration of environmental conservation.
We organically grow rice, wheat, barley, soy, soba (buckwheat), adlay and vegetables in our large 190-hectare farmlands, of which 35 hectares are for rice and 155 hectares are for the other grains and vegetables. They are located in the reclaimed land around Lake Kahokugata on the outskirts of Kanazawa city, in Yamakorekiyo of Monzen town and in Hakkayama of Suzu city. The latter two farms are in the Oku-Noto area.
Kanazawa Daichi actively works on cultivation of abandoned farmland in the Noto area; the Noto's Satoyama and Satoumi has been designated as Globally Important Agriculturral Heritage Systems (GIAHS) by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
In addition to Organic JAS certification in Japan, the grain produced by Kanazawa Daichi meets two strict international standards: US National Organic Program (NOP) certification and EU Organic Farming certification.
Kanazawa Daichi not only produces raw materials but also develops and produces various processed foods and condiments with our organic ingredients. We put great value on the food production systems which are traceable to the farm producer in a responsible way. We develop a wide range of products from Japanese condiments, such as soy sauce and miso, to sweets, over 100 items in total, so that people can easily have grain in their daily lives.
In February 2011, we opened the company's first store "Kanazawa Daichi TANATSUYA" in Kanazawa Omicho Market, the much-loved "kitchen of Kanazawa residents" since the Edo Period. We offer a valuable lifestyle where people can enjoy a variety of grain in the store.
